3G MOBILE PHONE UNLOCKING

the nec unlock codes on this website may not work with new firmware (*#2820#)

UNLOCK NEC E313

> 1. insert non-three SIM > 2. "incorrect sim" warning > 3. key in #4960*xxxxxxxx# & press "dial key" - (xxxxxxxx is a > 8 digit random no) > 4. key in *4960*xxxxxxxx*xxxxxxxx# - (xxxxxxxx is same as > above) > 5. "SIM lock disable", then restart your hs > > It does work !!
1. Put in any GSM SIM card (The one you want to use) (i.e not your 3G one) 2. Switch on Phone and wait for "Please insert correct USIM card" 3. Select Emrgncy call mode (right soft button on e616) 4. It will prompt you to enter the emergency services number... DONT do that or you will call 999 or 112. Just hit cancel or simply wait for a few seconds 5. You will see the prompt "To disable USIM card lock Please enter the lock code" 6. Punch in 00000000 (eight zeros) 7. Hit OK 8. Unfortunately you will have to do that every time you switch on the phone
1) #4960*xxxxxxxx# + Send 2)*4960*xxxxxxxx*xxxxxxxx# + Send 3) Turn-off the phone and turn-on again! xxxxxxxx = any numbers !

DISABLE SIMLOCK #4960*00000000#

To unlock a 2g or 2.5g SIM card on an E313 E316 do the following :- 1) Put a 2G/2.5G Simcard into the phone and turn ON the phone. 2) Enter the following code into the phone (xxxxxxxx = any numbers, If the phone does not ask for a code after entering the #4960* part then this method will not work for you) #4960*xxxxxxxx# *4960*xxxxxxxx*xxxxxxxx# 3) Turn the phone OFF and ON again. Remember the xxxxxxxx you used. You will need to use same code in the future. You do NOT have to do this every time you switch the phone on. Attention: - This unlock method ONLY works with one Simcard. If you wish to change to another Simcard you will have to unlock again using this same code! - This method only works on some firmware versions. (WORKS ON SW ACPU:E21.43.04 CCPU:C623 R06 WHICH SEEMS TO BE THE CURRENT SOFTWARE VERSION DOING THE ROUNDS IN THE UK) The code only works on phones manufactured up to March this year (UNKNOWN IF THIS IS TRUE OR NOT – SEEMS DOUBTFUL TO ME THOUGH AS THIS WOULD HAVE REQUIRED NEC TO DO A HARDWARE CHANGE ON A BRAND NEW PHONE)

Turn your phone on with the SIM card you want the phone unlocked to in (the phone is unlocked to the inserted SIM card only). When it turns on enter #4960*12345678# (then dial if no message appears). If you get the insert correct uSIM still then message then press down and type 12345678 and OK. You should hopefully be at the main screen now with the background picture (though with no network coverage). Now type in *4960*12345678*12345678# and you will hopefully get a message saying "SIM lock on". Now clear the message and type the code in again i.e. *4960*12345678*12345678# (this is the way that it differs from most methods). Then just restart the phone. This method gives me a phone which is unlocked to the SIM card that is in (I've tested on Orange and Vodafone in the UK) and all applications are accessible (although the internet doesn't work as you can only access it through 3G). It does take around 30 seconds for the applications to be accessible after starting the phone, I don't know why this is, however the phone is permanently unlocked to the SIM, even after restarts. You do have to unlock it again to use a different SIM card in it.

(o2 Users) Place your o2 Sim in and do the emergency 112 unlock trick... Now Change APN 3 to payandgo.o2.co.uk Now create a new Connection: Dial-Up Connection Connection Name: o2 Internet Username: payandgo Passwordassword Dial-Up Number: *99# This does not work... but it connects... Heres the settings that work: (Get Mobile Web enabled on your Sim Card) Dial-Up Connection Connection Name: o2 Internet Username: mobileweb Passwordassword Dial-Up Number: *99# DNS Server Address: 193.113.200.200 Alternate DNS Server Address: 193.113.200.201

Instructions - remember may not work for all... Power up phone #4960*12345678# *4960*12345678*12345678# (ignore USIM Lock On message) Switch off phone and replace sim Says Insert USIM, press emergency button Don't enter anything but wait for it to ask for unlock code Enter 12345678 Says USIM Lock Off ***IMPORTANT - BE CAREFUL WHEN DO NEXT BIT OTHERWISE YOU GET THROUGH TO EMERGENCY NUMBER *** Enter 112 on handset and press dial Say yes to swap network As soon as it changes network HANGUP (do not let it continue dialling) The 3G will change to 2.5 (o2) or 2 (vf) Within about 15secs you should get your sim provider logo You can now dial out/recieve calls - but cant do text, wap or access your contacts list. With an o2 sim the phone menu (topleft) icon changes to a simcard and when choose this lists the o2 services numbers available

Put your new sim into the phone. (see note at bottom) If you type *#5830# on your phone it shows all the unlocking codes VERY BRIEFLY. This will pop up for a fraction of a second, so be ready to memorize one set (8 digits, 4 sets displayed) Write it down and use it in the _____ area below. Now enter #4960*_____# , nothing happens but thats how it should be. Now enter *4960*_____*_____# and it'll say "simlock on". Its now locked to the simcard thats in the phone. Switch it off, then back on again. All done p.s. I have had problems with phones when the 3 sim card has been put into the phone. It reports unlocked and locked. but doesnt allow the sim to be used.

Insert Any sim card turn on press emergency button Don't enter anything but wait for it to ask for unlock code Enter 00000000 Says USIM Lock Off ***IMPORTANT - BE CAREFUL WHEN DO NEXT BIT OTHERWISE YOU GET THROUGH TO EMERGENCY NUMBER *** Enter 112 on handset and press dial Say yes to swap network As soon as it changes network HANGUP (do not let it continue dialling) The 3G will change to 2.5 (o2) or 2 (vf) Within about 15secs you should get your sim provider logo You can now dial out/recieve calls - but cant do text, wap or access your contacts list.

the Software Version is (*#2820#) :
ACPU:E21.63.11B CCPU:C623.R1Y.Q
I Checked the SP Lock (*#3210#) this is On! Corporate or Net Lock (*#8140#) is Off. Network Lock (*#7320#) is On !
When booting with the Virgin Sim the only thing i seem to be able to do is the emrgy operation. This will get onto a network ! but it tries to force the switch to 3g network to make the call. if i let this happen , i can subsequently access some menus on the phone but no contacts or messages or some settings menus. also as the handset is on 3g the 2g sim is not recognised on the network - no incomming calls.
however if you ok the switch to 3g, then quickly cancel it, and try the emergency operation again - you can get it into 2g mode, again access to menus excluding messages and contacts and some settings menus. But now on the 2g network, the Virgin sim number is recognised when i dial it from another phone - i can recieve calls now. NB in all cases the phones "scratch pad" (for dialing numbers direct on the handset) and messages and contacts etc are disabled so its hard to make calls.
How i made calls - as i said i could now recieve calls and when your on a call another menu is active which allows you to dial another call.
NOTE - various menus items disabled - i managed to reactivate alot of them by putting a link to them on the Quick Menu !
NOTE - NO probs with the phone when 3 sim returned
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- tried this method with my T-mobile sim.. camera worked, could call out using the sim, only thing that didn't work was the internet access and messages --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HOW TO MAKE INTERNET WORK ON A UNLOCKED NEC

Many believe it is just not possible to get on the internet with this phone unlocked, many have tried.
But with a NEC e616v unlocked and using Virgin you can (other operators not tried BUT SHOULD WORK)
Ok heres how: 1. Menu -> Settings -> Network Setup -> APN -> APN 3 -> Edit -> Enter 0000 -> EDIT "APN address" to goto.virginmobile.uk 2. Restart the phone.
You now should have 2 bars at the top
To Test the internet: Press the internet key -> 3 dot key -> Enter URL http://66.102.9.104 -> And Theres Google !
For the moment you just have to ping the address you want on a pc and enter the IP into the phone to access it (doesnt work where virtual servers etc are concerned)
Also Java, I attempted to get any java program but every program I tried comes up application error, I think its trying to contact 3 with a web address or simular and so not working.

HOW TO SEND FREE MMS

free MMS messages using a different MMSC, a bit like SMS with SMSC, as somebody quoted. Well yes this is possible, as MMS is simply a messaging format that uploads data files in an ftp (style) format, through an SMTP server and then uses general sms as an alert method, and sends data to the phone in the form of an sms message, like those service settings updates you receive, and the message contains data that tells the handset where it can download it from, the phone then connects via gprs (normally) to receive the mms message.

(Just had another good thort to even avoid gprs charges, use wap csd instead because that'll come out of your inclusive minutes, if your on payg, its probably cheaper to use the gprs provided by your sp)

So the way to send MMS for free is quite simple, and it cannot be banned or barred unlike smsc, unless the networks were to ban all wap/gprs/data services of all kind, which is not going to happen.

The way it's done, you need to download an mmsc client, such as nowsms, which i belive is at nowsms.com or something like that, just look it up on google. Then once you have downloaded and installed this, if you have a static ip address you can use that as the server address, or the other way of doing this if you hve a dynamic ip address (one that changes each time you log-on to the internet) is to get a free dynamic name service from somewhere like no-ip.com and download an automatic update client such as dynsite, which is bltently the best on the scene at the moment, this client updates your ip address with your chosen domain or subdomain name each to you logon to the net, therefore bringing the mmsc online. The mmsc needs to be configured, most of it is self explanatory, the only thing you really need to know is that you DO NEED to supply it with a dialup smsc number, so you need one that works for country you are in, the best one for use in the UK is 07958 879 889, and this is on the t-mobile network, as far as i know it sends to all uk networks, but not international networks. If you want international dialup smsc numbers, simply look them up on google. the term "dialup tap smsc server" usually does the trick. Now obviously for your computer or server to be able to dialup to the dialup smsc, lol, you need to pay for a phone call to the smsc server, there is no way to avoid this, but there is ways to reduce the cost. Each time the server dials up it has to authenticate which is the longest part of the process, sending the message takes about 2 seconds, remember this is only the sms that tells the phone where to download the data from, it dosnt contain anything except binary text. Most good MMSC server clients allow you to setup restrictions, e.g. who can send through your mmsc, and how often it should dialup to the SMSC, for example, send messages once every hour, would connect once every hour, send messages, then disconnect, freeing your phone linen again, but messages could take upto an hour to be delivered this way, but whichever way you do this i dont recommend leaving your modem dialed up to a smsc, unless u re charging money for this service and making enuff out of it to leave it connected, and this aint gonna happen with a uk smsc coz they cost a minimum of like 10p a min or somin, the best way to do that would be to signup to someone like one.tel who let you call the usa for 2p a min, then setup your modem to dial a us smsc server through the one.tel service, the format would be 08009571877,001xxxxxxxxxx# -- Anyway, getting back on topic, Then once this message has been sent, it uploads the message including any photos etc you may have attached to the servers default email address, you need to set this up in the format of mmsc@localhost. "localhost" stands for the domain of your system, which is then sent in this format, which is the MMS format, via SMTP. Standard Mail Transfer Protocal, is the normal protocal used to transfer regular email across the internet, and thats wat mms messages effectively are.

That was a very basic overview of how the system works, i may write a small ebook on how its done, you know wiv screen dumps and step-by-step follow through guides, wat do you think?

----

Ok, next subject, all of you are getting your sims blasted by o2, simple answer to this, get a cheap bricky phone on 3G just for txts, such as the Motorola c975 or somin, you can pick these up for Ј30 or so. Three (in the uk) dont bar smsc yet, and allow use of international smsc still, and dont bar your sims. Efficiently still the only decent network in the uk for smsc. The only drawback is obviously you cannot seek using 3g handsets yet, to my knowledge, if anyone can prove me wrong, a tenner is in the post on its way to you So we still need you lovely seekers with you dct-3 handsets, go on, be a dude, dig out ur 32, and 3310's

----

the mmsc trick won't work with 3g, because of the whole walled-garden thing.

HOW TO BROWSE A WEBSITE THATS NOT INSIDE THE WALLED GARDEN

"Walled Garden" - Three gives you limited access to the net, infact thats a lie, they dont give you any access to the net, when you press their little triange button, you access a page stored on a server on three's LAN.

----

How to access the web through their walled garden!

You can move around their rubbish lan as much as you like, but it's difficult to get out. There is a way tho, most people talk about that email gateway thing, just shows how much people are forgetting these days. The best way, which does require two 3g handsets, but only if you want to set it up yourself, is to download a program off the net that allows you to run your own proxy server, for example 602LAN Suite. Install this, setup the proxy server to access the internet over your broadband connection, i say broadband coz if you did this on dialup you are just silly really, and then you will be running a proxy server at 0.0.0.0:8080, if port 8080 is the port you chose, and 0.0.0.0 is your computers ip address.

NOTE: at this point you need to record the ip address of the three phone you have connected to the above system, simply dialup to 3's lan as described below, but do this on the system mentioned above, hence y u need two 3 handsets, one for your desktop connected to broadband, and one for the notebook/laptop your taking with you. How to find your ip address, if in windows xp, simply right click on the little computer flashy thingy by the clock, and slelect status, click details, and the ip you want is the one that says "Client address" NOT "server address". Make a note of this ip, as you will need to enter it in the next step.

Then its simple, with your notebook/laptop, and other 3g phone, go anywhere in the country with 3g or 2.5g signal, connect your phone to your laptop/notebook by usb cable provided with your phone, or bluetooth, and dialup to *99#, username and password is irrelavent. Then simply set your proxy settings in your browser to the details you found in the previous step.

If you have internet explorer, click tools, internet options, connections, choose your dialup connection from the list, click settings, and enter the ip address of the other 3 phone connected to your desktop at home, and the port number the proxy server is running on.

And viola, you've got unlimited free mobile internet!!!

HOW TO LOCK A LG U8110/120 IN TO 2G SIGNAL

firstly, remove back cover... you'll see why in a minute. then, press the following (from main screen): menu/settings/network/network selection/manual... phone searches and brings up a few options: select "3" - the SECOND ONE down in the list (2G). wait for it to register, etc... "G" will show in top left of screen. IMMEDIATELY select manual AGAIN but this time, BEFORE RESULTS APPEAR, REMOVE BATTERY. wait min of 2 then power up. Phone should stay on 2G until you reset network settings to auto
